Botox

Botox is most commonly used in cosmetic procedures aimed at reducing the wrinkles and fine lines on one’s face. However, it can be useful in dentistry in some circumstances. The most common use of Botox in dentistry is to repair the facial aesthetics of a patient. It can be used to treat high lip lines or reduce discomfort for people who have difficulty adjusting to dentures.

How is Botox procedure done?

Botox is a minimally invasive procedure and does not include any surgery. It is injected into the targeted area with a needle. One of the biggest advantages of using Botox is that it does not cause any downtime for the recipient of the treatment. The patient does, however, experience some discomfort which can be in the form of swelling, bruising or in some rare cases, flu-like symptoms.

  • Therapeutic:

    Botox is also used to treat problems such as TMJ and teeth grinding. TMJ or temporomandibular joint problems are caused when the jaw muscles become too tensed with stress. Botox can be used to relax these muscles and provide relief to the patient.

Botox or Botulinum toxin is a drug mainly used to reduce wrinkles and fine lines by weakening the underlying muscles. Botox treatment is minimally invasive. The effects last about three to 4 months, depending on what you are treating. The most common side effects are pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site.

How is Botox procedure done?

Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor pain.It’s a quick 10-minute treatment with minimal downtime.It generally takes 7 to 14 days to take full effect.
